Welcome to enjoy the tones of tea 茶韵. Experience authentic Chinese tea accompanied by classical Guqin music.
The Guqin, recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage, is one of the oldest Chinese instruments, with a history spanning up to 3,000 years. It was played by Confucius and numerous masters as a means of self-cultivation. Singaporean Jin Oh, a contemporary composer and Guqin player, will accompany tea drinking with traditional Guqin music. Currently, he is teaching Guqin in Helsinki while pursuing his Master’s in composition at the Sibelius Academy.
The Chinese tea ceremony is an effortless way to be present, surrendering to the experience and transcending the taste of pleasure in a serene space. Let us share this moment together. Tea will be served by Jingling Tang and Petri Mutanen, who are in the process of building a tea center in Jokioinen.
To listen to the Guqin, enjoy tea, and engage with other arts together in cultivated company is how ancient scholars spent their time and learned from each other. Our aim is to revive this tradition in our times, fostering spontaneity, creativity, and harmony to blur the line between host and guest.
